Fishing in the upper Laisvalley
Here in Gautosjö we fish for Char and Brown trout. We have access to a large number
of fine fishing waters, everything from municipal to our own exclusive lakes.
For the fly fisherman we can offer an amazing rapid system and for the lake fisherman
there are boats and engines to rent and we offer guided fishing trips for a whole or half a day
For far away fishing trips, up on remotely located mountain lakes, flight transport can
be organized.
During the winter season jig fishing is what it's all about. There are a vast number of
excellent jig fishing lakes close to the facility
and up further away in the mountains.
Snowmobiles and sleds are available for renting.
Fishing waters
CampGauto lies of Lake Gauto, part of the Lais river system
in Swedish Lapland. The campsites own streams are just
around the corner: three rapids with markedly deep stretches
between them. There is also a fine stock of stationary trout, and char are
also to be found in the lower reaches.
Trout and char fishing are good in Lake Gauto, and normally there is no problem
catching a fish to enjoy around a campfire on the beach in the evening.
Downstream from Lake Gauto lies the stream Märkströmmen, about 1.2 km long,
which has grayling besides trout and char. It es easy to get to Märkströmmen.
A short boar ride - and then it is just a question of choosing a side. But beware
of approaching too close, the rapids are fierce...
South of the river lies a small system comprising three lakes- Loppsjön, Bäversjön
and Strandsjön. Here you can find calm and seclusion, at the same time as you find
first class lake trout.
Besides our ownwaters in the immediate area, there is a wide range of both running
and still water, containing mainly trout and char. Amond other things there is a
fly fishing stretch of about 10 kilometres which ranks among the best trout waters in
Sweden. We have an overnight cabin near this stretch.
Around Camp Gauto you have every possibility of finding
your 'own' water - the only limit is set by your own urge to explore

The Guide
A fishing guide is a guarantee that you will get the most out
of your fishing. And introductory guided tour on the first day
is recommended
Fishing tackle
The area and the species of fish make it ideal for fly fishing.
Class 5-7 equipment is suitable, and in 9 cases out of 10 a floating
line is selected, with a variety of tippets. Early in the season, when the water is cooler
and higher, and when one wishes to fish bigger waters, a sinking line can be good to have
The fly box should contain assorted caddis and mayflies of various stages, colour and sizes,
black fly imitations and a number of streamers. For early fly fishing and for lake fishing for
char, supplement the collection with various midges.
Spinning is also permitted, but in that case we recommend fishing with a single hook.
